NDIS Community Participation in Melbourne
Get out, do things you genuinely enjoy, and build real social connections. Day trips, group adventures, outdoor activities, creative events, gaming meetups, and overnight experiences. All with matched support.
What is Community Participation?
The NDIS funds community participation under two categories: Core Supports (Assistance with Social and Community Participation) for day-to-day community access, and Capacity Building (Increased Social and Community Participation) for building the skills to participate more independently.
At Get Unlocked, community participation means real activities with people who share your interests. Day trips, group adventures, expos, creative events, and outdoor experiences. Support workers who genuinely share your passions.
No NDIS plan? All activities are available fee-for-service. Same team, same experiences.

Community Participation, Straight From the NDIS
The details people search for, drawn from how the NDIS defines and funds getting out into the community.
Two ways your plan can fund it
Community participation can be funded two ways. Your Core budget can include "Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation" for support to take part in activities now. Your Capacity Building budget can include "Increased Social and Community Participation" for building the skills and confidence to do more over time.

Core is flexible, Capacity Building is stated
Most Core support funding can be used flexibly across its categories, so community access sits alongside your other everyday supports. Capacity Building funding is held against specific categories, and you choose the supports within them that best suit your goals.

What a provider can charge
The most a provider can charge is capped by the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, published by the National Disability Insurance Agency and updated each financial year. The current 2025-26 arrangements took effect on 24 November 2025. We price to that document and confirm your cost in writing before support starts. Source: NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits.
Cost, Eligibility & Getting Started
Straight answers to the questions most people ask before getting in touch.
What it costs
Community participation is priced to the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. Day activities and outings are claimed under Assistance with Social and Community Participation (Core) or Increased Social and Community Participation (Capacity Building); overnight stays under Short Term Accommodation.
No plan? Everything is available fee-for-service, and we confirm the cost with you in writing before anything starts.
Am I eligible?
If your plan includes Core community access funding or Capacity Building participation funding, you can use it here. Both 1:1 support and small-group activities are available, so the format can match how you like to take part.
Not sure what's in your plan? Your support coordinator or plan manager can check, or we'll help you work it out.
Where we work
We're based in Thomastown and run activities across Greater Melbourne - northern, western, and eastern suburbs - and travel to regional Victoria for day trips and outings.
Tell us your area and we'll tell you what's within reach.
How to start
- Get in touch – tell us what you enjoy and how much social contact feels right for you.
- We match the activity – 1:1 or a small group, built around your interests and goals.
- Go at your pace – start small, build up, no pressure to keep up with anyone else.
Ready to Get Involved?
Whether you're using your NDIS plan or paying privately, we'll match you with activities and experiences you'll genuinely enjoy.
